Looking for something fun and rewarding for the kids these school holidays? The NZSFC Youth Nationals 2026 is a great option. This nationwide fishing tournament for junior anglers runs from 3 April to 18 April 2026, perfectly timed with the April school holidays.

Open to anglers under 18, the tournament gives young fishers the chance to experience the excitement of competitive fishing. Structured similarly to The Nationals, the event features an all-tackle, measure-and-release format and a points-based scoring system that rewards anglers for using lighter line classes. With support from Daiwa NZ and Just Another Fisherman, there are also some fantastic prizes up for grabs.

Getting involved is simple. Junior anglers can register through their local fishing club, and club membership isn’t required to take part. The competition includes a range of fishing categories, from kids using handlines right through to those fishing from boats. There’s also a photography section, encouraging participants to capture the fun of fishing and the beauty of the marine environment.

Fishing is not only exciting but also a great way for families to spend quality time together and create lasting memories.

If you’re searching for an engaging activity for the school holidays, the NZSFC Youth Nationals 2026 is the perfect opportunity. Get the kids out on the water, enjoy the adventure of fishing, and make memories that will last a lifetime.
